Teachers Behind You

Dealing with your teachers is not always easy. There’s usually one whose approval you’d seek, one you’d like to challenge, and one you would like to consult with when you get a bad grade. It seems that our relationship with our teachers often reflect those that exist with our own families. You always talk and go with the teacher everyday so there is no reason in which they influence the flow of our family relationship. But we should always remember that school has also factors that are different from home, especially the teacher and student relationships.

After all, whether our teachers are angels or grouches, they are there to teach us and appraise our academic performance objectively.
But sometimes as we are with our teachers there are incidents that happened which also complete the bonding of the teacher and the student. We also have experiences in school, with them, that we don’t experience with the family or also different from the home.

When the teachers always single you or caught you. I experienced it many times when the teacher caught me misbehaving or daydreaming and call a special attention. Of the same composition, for me it feels embarrassing at the same time I feel angry. Maybe the best thing you can do is to try to modify your behavior and see whether this changes your teacher’s attitude towards you. And also you may ask to have your seat changed; perhaps your neighbors are distracting you.

Second, sometimes the teachers give you a grade that you feel is incorrect. I really experienced it especially in essay writing. Sometimes when I see that my essay is correct enough to be given an incorrect grade I ask the teacher why he gave me this score. It may change the teacher’s mind.

And lastly and the most common situation between the student and the teacher is when the teacher never remembers your name. There are those times when a teacher calls you in a wrong name and I really hate that. Maybe we should have a seat plan for him with the entire student’s name or namecards on each student’s desk.

But remember school is not your home and your teachers have responsibilities and duties that are different from your parents. It is their job to enforce school rules, so don’t assume that they are always wrong and you are always right. Especially when they give limits to your moves. A good relationship with your teacher requires respect.

And lastly you should take in mind that teachers are our “second parents”. But it doesn’t mean that if they are second parents they just are like our true parents. Put in mind that our parents supports and gives us much love, support, care and attention which for our teachers are different. Teachers mold us and give us knowledge. They give stocks and bits of facts of this much unknown world of us.
